New York Fashion week seemed to come and go in a blur, and once again we are left with the "it" list of what's hot in fashion. For all the re-interpretations of trends we've seen time and time again, there were also designs that emerged as new and innovative. And while not everything that pranced down the runways will be wearable in real life, fashion week is about showcasing ideas and inspiring the everyday person to find their personal style.

Here are five wearable trends we saw on the runways that can easily be incorporated into your wardrobe (if they haven't already):

1) Grey:

The color grey continues to be one of the most versatile and wearable. Whether it's a simple t-shirt, a la Alexander Wang, or a full on ensemble as seen at Marc Jacobs, incorporating grey into your wardrobe is an easy way to update and modernize your look. Our favorite way to wear it is with grey denim. Instead of the usual blue, grey acts as a blank canvas and looks great with colors and prints alike.

2) Lace:

Lace can be a pretty way to create a feminine look. A lace top can help balance out menswear-inspired trousers. A flirty lace mini-skirt can be the perfect counter-point to a simple white tank. A blazer made of lace can add just a touch of girly-ness to a pair of distressed jeans. You probably already have lace pieces in your closet.

3) Scarves:

Scarves are still the most versatile choice when it comes to keeping warm. The runways showcased everything from long skinny scarves to fat, chunky knits. We are major fans of infinity scarves, crafted from one circular piece of fabric or knit. Whatever kind you choose, a scarf is a chic and practical accessory.

4) Mini Dresses:

Party dresses will never go out of style. The micro trend continues to flourish as we saw from designers like Stacey Bendet. The good news is the mini-dress is surprisingly wearable. Pair with everything from ankle booties to flats. And while the hemline remains a constant, designers created looks in every fabric and pattern possible, making it easy to always be ready for your next cocktail party.

5) Velvet:

A velvet, such a controversial fabric! The Fall RTW collections brought what seemed like massive amounts of velvet to our view. While we don't approve of outfits that are head-to-toe velvet, a touch here and there can be chic. Add a jacket to an otherwise velvet-free outfit. Wear a velvet skirt with a basic top. Or try accessorizing with velvet - gloves, hair bands, etc.
