| A few weeks ago, a friend commented to me that she had been using the Clarisonic system and recommended it. I noticed her skin had a beautiful glow about it, and was curious about the whole thing. Well, last week I was invited to attend a party for the launch of Clarisonic's new beauty blog called Sonic Chatter. Attendees were generously gifted a Clarisonic PLUS and an Opal Sonic Infusion System. I've been using both for about a week now and wanted to share my thoughts with you.

Using Sonic technology of 300 movements per second, Clarisonic system's remove makeup and clean skin beyond any manual scrubbing. Check out this photo of skin cleaned with the Clarisonic compared to skin cleaned by hands. The brushes don't use as much cleanser, (since, skin care products get absorbed into our porous hands) making your trips to the beauty counter less frequent.

The Clarisonic PLUS Sonic Skin Cleansing System ($225) promises "fewer dry patches, gentle exfoliation for softer, smoother skin and firmer skin with improved texture." To use: simply apply a small amount of any cleanser to the dampened brush head, click the button and apply to an area on your face. The Clarisonic beeps at 20-second intervals, reminding you to move the brush to another are of the skin. I usually start with my forehead and move downward to my chin, then do my cheeks. I love that I don't even have to think about when to move it, it's like it does the work for me! There are four brush speeds, so you can achieve a deeper cleanse if needed. I've used cleansing brushes in the past, but have always been disappointed in how rough the bristles were. The PLUS brush head is super soft, yet you can feel the deep cleansing happening at the first use. Having sensitive skin, this is something I was initially concerned about, but it was no problem with the Clarisonic.
Another bonus to the Clarisonic PLUS: A body brush. Use it in the shower to exfoliate arms, legs, elbows, décolleté - anywhere that might need extra attention.
The Clarisonic PLUS system comes with a sensitive skin facial cleansing head, a body brush head, and four different skin cleansers. Each of the cleansers were developed by Robb Akridge, PhD, and are gentle on skin, and contain no Parabens.

The Clarisonic Opal Sonic Infusion System ($245) is like a trip to the spa in each anti-aging eye treatment application. Combining sonic infusion technology and anti-aging Sea Serum, the unit promises younger looking skin around the eyes. I was skeptical about this claim! How can a vibrating machine actually make you look younger? But, for someone who is not getting any younger (hello crows feet!), I was interested in testing it out.
To use the product, simply squeeze a drop of the sea serum onto the applicator, apply to skin and turn on. The first thing I noticed about using the Opal is how gentle it is. The soft and flexible applicator tip doesn't pull skin. The Opal turns itself off after 30-seconds, letting you know it's time to move to the other eye. (Again, loving not having to time it myself). Cleanup is minimal (just wipe the applicator with a tissue). The whole Opal package is super futuristic with it's magnetic dispenser cap and charging base, so it's got counter appeal, which we beauty junkies know is important.
Another benefit to the Opal is the product is built right in - it's contained in the lid. Again, developed by Dr. Robb Akridge, PhD, the Paraben-free eye serum uses a marine extracts and botanicals which help firm and protect the fine tissues around the eyes. And, bonus, you can even use the Opal on areas around the mouth that might be showing signs of aging.
While I can't say my fine lines have disappeared (Opal does say that results last for hours and build over time, so perhaps in the future), I can say that the skin around my eyes does perk up a bit after using the Opal. And as a sleep-deprived, pregnant, decaf-drinking, mother of a toddler, this is huge in my book!
I've only been using both products for about a week now, but so far, my skin feels cleaner after cleansing and the areas around my eyes feel a bit tighter. I am excited to see the results after continuing to use them!
